Lammas is a national celebration held on August 1st and is believed to be a Christian celebration of the corn harvest. This is believed to mean a “loaf-mass”.

Some churches still feature loaves in their services on this day and in recent years there have been articles in the press promoting the more secular activity of  bread-making, which seems to be growing in popularity. Various events are held throughout the Country.
