Tolling the Devils Knell in Dewsbury

Festive bell ringing

Date: 24 December 20 — 24 December 20 | Report this event.

Entrance Price free Per person

A traditional festive event with a curious twist. The church bells are rung with only a break in the evening service. This custom  is that Sir Thomas Soothill donated the tenor bell to the parish church as a penance for murdering a young boy servant and then trying to conceal his body. So the bells are rung the same number of times as there have been years since this event.

Starts 11.15pm
